Harvey Kahn has been an independent producer since the mid 1980's. In 1998, he formed a production company with a group of investors called Front Street Pictures (FSP). He's produced numerous independent features and television movies including the critically acclaimed feature WE DON'T LIVE HERE ANYMORE, an adaptation of short stories by Andre Dubus (In the Bedroom), starring Naomi Watts, Mark Ruffalo, Laura Dern, and Peter Krause. The film was produced by FSP and fully funded by Front Street Films, the company's film equity fund. WDLHA was in the dramatic competition at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival, where Warner Independent Pictures acquired US rights.
In 2005, Mr. Kahn and Front Street produced the feature film THE DEAL, which he also directed. A Wall Street thriller, the film stars Christian Slater, Selma Blair, Robert Loggia, Angie Harmon and John Heard, and was distributed by Sony in the US. Also that year he produced and directed HUSH for Lifetime starring Tori Spelling. In 2002 he directed FSP's WATERS EDGE, starring Nathan Fillion (Serenity, The Waitress), Chandra West and Daniel Baldwin, and distributed by Lions Gate in North America.
Mr. Kahn moved to Vancouver, BC in 2002 and opened Front Street's Vancouver offices. Since then, he has produced numerous independent films, and over 50 hours of movies for TV. Among the other movies he produced during that time include: THE PROPOSAL, starring Jennifer Esposito and Nick Moran, and distributed by Miramax; OUT OF LINE, starring Jennifer Beals, distributed by First Look Pictures; and PRESSURE, starring Kerr Smith (Dawson's Creek), and distributed by DEJ/Blockbuster. He also produced a one-hour pilot for NBC called COLD FEET.
Among Mr. Kahn's other indie film credits are: NOBODY'S BABY, which premiered at the 2001 Sundance Film Festival, starred Gary Oldman, Skeet Ulrich and Mary Steenburgen, and was distributed by Artisan in the US; CADILLAC RANCH, starring Christopher Lloyd and Suzy Amis,; EDEN, starring Dylan Walsh, Joanna Going, and Sean Patrick Flannery, which was accepted into the Dramatic Competition at the 1996 Sundance Film Festival; ROW YOUR BOAT, starring Jon Bon Jovi and Bai Ling; and THE BREAK UP starring Bridget Fonda, Kiefer Sutherland, and Steven Weber, which was distributed by Miramax Films in the US.
Mr. Kahn also has an extensive background in television as the producer/executive producer of movies and miniseries for all the major television networks. Among his credits are: MURDER ON PLEASANT DRIVE starring Adam Arkin, Amy Madigan and Kelli Williams (Lifetime Original Movie); MELTDOWN starring Casper Van Dien (SciFi Channel); POSSESSED starring Nicollette Sheridan (Lifetime); Divided By Hate (USA), When Love Kills (CBS), Lies and Lullabies (ABC) and Shoot First (NBC).
Mr. Kahn started his career in the entertainment industry at the Disney Channel and was its first director of publicity. Before entering the film/TV industry, he worked on political and social issue campaigns in California and Washington, DC. He also worked in investigative journalism.
